Designing MOVE: Start with What Exists

July 8, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

How can you use design to create better services and products in government?

Join one of the Code for Canada fellows, Pallavi Thampi, for a Lunch & Learn session on her fellowship team’s work with the City of Toronto Transportation Services’ Big Data Innovation Team (also a Civic Hall Toronto member).

Pallavi will chart the journey of a research insight from a user, how the insight was then developed into a product feature and iterated upon through usability testing.

Attendees will gain insight into:
  • Creating a simple research plan, deciding what methodologies to use, and why
  • Identifying and interviewing users (domain and technical interviews vs. user interviews)
  • Synthesizing and making sense of qualitative data—specifically the complex and tiered web of roles, departments, and data in government
  • Defining the problem you’re trying to solve

Civic Hall Toronto is a program of Code for Canada, a national non-profit that helps governments and communities harness the power of digital. Learn more at codefor.ca.
